· World Road Association (PIARC) and Ministry of Transportation and Communications of China
Founded in 1909, the World Road Association (PIARC) is one of the most authoritative and influential international organizations in the global road field. As a non-profit, non-governmental international organization, PIARC specializes in the exchange of information on the planning and management, design and construction, operation, safety and maintenance of road facilities. The association has 127 governmental members worldwide and 1,200 expert members from 142 countries or regions, and has set up 20 technical committees, among which the technical committee for tunnel direction is abbreviated as TC4.4. The main activities organized by PIARC are World Road Congress, Winter Road Congress, technical seminars, etc. The association is also a member of the World Road Association, the World Road Association, the World Road Association and the World Road Association.
In China, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) has unified the management of affairs related to the participation in PIARC activities, including the appointment of Chinese technical committees. The Ministry of Transport and PIARC have co-organized a number of large-scale international conferences to actively publicize and promote the achievements and technical experience of China's highway industry, and at the same time take this opportunity to introduce advanced technology from abroad, which is an important window for foreign cooperation in China's highway field.
With the strong support of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Mr. Ding Hao, president of PIARC, as a national technical member of the Technical Committee on Tunnels (TC4.4), put forward a request to the Technical Committee on Tunnels to host the international symposium at the “Start-up Meeting of the 2024-2027 Work Cycle” held in Paris, France, in February of this year, which was approved by the Technical Committee on the spot. PIARC and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) have been working together on the project. After several rounds of communication and negotiation between PIARC and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), CMST's request for organizing the Symposium was finally approved, and CMST became one of the 4 organizers among the 13 applicants.
The PIARC 2025 International Symposium on World Road Tunneling Technology held in China is another important achievement of the long-term friendly cooperation between the two sides, which also reflects the high recognition of PIARC on China's achievements in the field of tunneling technology.
